At present, there is still a greater emphasis on walled gardens and web3 approaches, both of which limit the opportunities for everyone to participate and both tend to channel power and value (including revenue) into a small sub-section of the community.

Open digital ecosystems are needed in sectors that are essential to the functioning of society: banking/finance, health, government service delivery, supply chains and logistics, transport, and so on. 

Open digital ecosystems will also be essential to solving some of our greatest challenges today, such as the climate emergency
